100-year-old Margaret Nichols is the oldest living member of the Passamaquoddy tribe. The wife of the first Passamaquoddy governor can remember when decisions were made by the tribal council. Though a slow process, she says things were more democratic. With the new system of tribal government in place, there is a greater risk for greed and coruption to influence tribal politics.
